Adam Hartzell,
Executive Director |

Adam Hartzell is Executive Director of Interact,
a non-profit agency that provides safety, support and awareness
to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault
throughout Wake County. Interact promotes violence-free relationships
by providing counseling, 24-hour crisis lines, residential
shelter, youth and foreign language programming, court and
hospital advocacy, and outreach and training programs. All
Interact services are provided at no costs to thousands of
clients each year.
Prior to joining Interact in May of 2003, Adam was in private
practice as a family law attorney in Wake County. Prior to
attending law school at Campbell University, he worked as
a journalist covering Wall Street in New York City. He received
his bachelors degree from American University majoring in
Political Science and Communications. Adam is originally from
High Point.

Kathy Johnson,
Associate Executive Director |

Kathryn Johnson is a North Carolina Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Marriage
and Family Therapy.
She has worked with Interact, Wake County's Family Violence Prevention Center for
the past 12 years, and is currently the Associate Executive Director of the agency.
During her tenure at Interact, she has held the positions of Shelter Children's
Counselor, Shelter Children's Program Coordinator, Assistant Shelter Director,
Shelter Director, Associate Executive Director and Interim/Acting Executive Director.
Prior to working at Interact, Kathy served as Weekend Shelter Manager at the Pitt County
Family Violence Prevention Center (New Directions), in Greenville, North Carolina. She
has also worked as a Child Mental Health Clinician at a private, for-profit agency,
and has experience in working as a family therapist for patients and families in
recovery from substance abuse at an alcohol and drug treatment center in Greenville,
North Carolina. |
